RETURNING OWNERS – Freezers and draft order

If you will be playing this season with a team in a newly formed league, as opposed to a team in an established league from last year, you can skip this section. Those in an established league from the 2001 season have the option of freezing a maximum of three athletes from your current roster, but only if at least 7 owners return. If by August 18th, your league does not have at least 7 owners, you will draft from scratch. By freezing up to three athletes, you will be assured of receiving those athletes on your roster for this season.

RENEWAL DEADLINE: The deadline to renew a 2001 franchise is 11:59 PM CT on August 4, 2002. If a franchise is not renewed by August 4, 2002 it becomes a team for sale and can be purchased by any contestant.

FREEZER DEADLINE: The deadline to submit your freezers is 11:59 PM CT on Sunday, August 25, 2002. At that time any freezers submitted are locked and will be presented to the other owners in the league. If you have not submitted freezers, you will not be allowed to after August 25.

OFF-SEASON TRADE DEADLINE: The off-season trading deadline is 11:59 PM CT on Friday, August 23, 2002.

The most athletes you can freeze at one category is listed below:

1--Quarterback – AFC   2--Kicker
1--Quarterback – NFC   2--Coach
2--Running Back- AFC   1--Overall Def.-AFC
2--Running Back- NFC   1--Overall Def.-NFC
3--Receiver – AFC   2--Rushing Defense
3--Receiver – NFC   2--Passing Defense

If there is any doubt about a player’s category, please refer to online player list, which is the official position eligibility list.

IMPORTANT:
Multi-list and single-list drafts
For Multi-list drafts, If you freeze an athlete, you lose your first draft choice at that position. If you freeze two athletes at one position, you lose your first and second draft choices at that position. If you freeze three athletes at one position (possible only at AFC Receiver and NFC Receiver), you lose all your draft choices at that position. If your league selects to draft Multi-list, you will be informed of your league's draft order at each position before you are required to submit your freezers and rank the available athletes.

Live and E-mail drafts
If you elect to freeze one athlete/defense, you lose your first draft choice. If you elect to freeze two athletes, you lose your first two draft choices. If you elect to freeze three athletes, you lose your first three draft choices. Draft order will be based on the previous year’s standings, with the team with the worst finishing position in the previous year drafting first in the first round, so on, until the team with the best finishing position drafts last in the first round. Draft order reverses in each successive round, so that the owner who drafts first in the first round, will draft 12th in the second round, and so on.
